Sue Sigler, Executive Director

Sue Sigler joined CAFB as Executive Director in the fall of 2008, bringing over 25 years of experience in social services and non-profit management. Sue holds a BS degree from Cornell University and a Master of Social Work degree from Fordham University. Early in her career, she focused on direct service work with a variety of populations, including elementary school counseling, mental health, homeless teens, and women with eating disorders. Prior to joining CAFB, Sue spent a number of years in private consulting practice, focusing on fundraising and turn-around management for troubled organizations.

Andrew Cheyne, Director of Government Affairs

Andrew Cheyne oversees CAFB’s state and federal policy agenda to address hunger and poverty, including legislative, budgetary and administrative initiatives. He also works to build the capacity of food banks, agencies, and clients to lead advocacy efforts. Recent achievements include first-ever General Fund support for CalFood that enables food banks to purchase California grown foods, enhancing the Farm to Food Bank Tax Credit and expanding the state Good Samaritan Food Donation liability protections. Andrew works across a broad portfolio from public benefits to food waste and other issues that affect food security. He has put a particular emphasis on multi-sector collaborations. Prior to joining CAFB, Andrew directed the research program at the Berkeley Media Studies Group, a leading media advocacy organization assisting public health advocates achieve policy victories. Andrew holds a Candidate in Philosophy and a Masters degree in Sociology from UC San Diego, and a BA cum laude in American Studies from Northwestern University.

Steve Linkhart, Director of Farm to Family

Steve Linkhart brings over 25 years of operations experience to CAFB’s Farm to Family program. Before he joined CAFB in 2013, Steve spent 11 years serving as the Director of Operations and Technology for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano. Steve is well known throughout our network thanks to his past work and brings his advanced knowledge and expertise in logistics, inventory management, and program management to work for CAFB.

Terry Garner, Member Services Director

Terry Garner joined CAFB in the spring of 2004 to direct a 22-county rural and remote food bank capacity building project. While at CAFB Terry has also managed a state and federally funded nutrition education contract. Terry holds a BA from University of Tennessee and a Master of Arts from San Francisco State. Throughout her career, Terry has worked in the nonprofit sector. Prior to joining CAFB, Terry worked as the Program Manager for Redwood Empire Food Bank in Sonoma County.

Stephanie Nishio, Director of Programs

Stephanie Nishio joined CAFB in 2010 as the Director of Programs. Previously, Stephanie managed federally-funded nutrition education, food security, and outreach contractors and grantees; she also taught community college nutrition courses. Stephanie holds a Master of Public Health degree from UC Berkeley and a BS in Nutrition from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She is also a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist.

Lauren Reid, Director of Communications

Lauren Reid joined CAFB in November 2018 to lead communications strategy that advances hunger awareness, advocacy, and action. For more than a decade, Lauren has spearheaded communications, advocacy, and engagement programs — both in-house and as an independent consultant. Prior to joining CAFB she focused her efforts on healthcare reform, government transparency, community engagement, and child safety. Lauren holds degrees in Visual Communication and English from the University of Miami.
