California Association of Food Banks didn\u2019t support the bill due to its dramatic cuts to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Act and our feeling that it would increase hunger in California (<a href=\"\/es\/blog\/california-association-food-banks-statement-house-consideration-2018-farm-bill\/\">read our statement here<\/a>). While there isn\u2019t consensus on the exact process the House will take next, Speaker Ryan has called for a second vote tentatively scheduled for June 22.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kqed.org\/news\/11668876\/house-votes-down-farm-bill-over-food-stamp-immigration-disputes\">The California Report interviewed Community Food Bank about the importance of SNAP in their community<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.capradio.org\/articles\/2018\/05\/18\/congressional-farm-bill-fails-in-the-house-and-californians-have-mixed-feelings-about-it\/\">Director of Government Relations Andrew Cheyne spoke to Capitol Public Radio about the need for a good Farm Bill<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Your food bank is encouraged to continue advocating for a better Farm Bill by contacting your representative and encouraging grassroots engagement from your supporters and volunteers.
