Together, with our food banks and with our national allies such as Food Research & Action Center and Feeding America, we work to influence federal legislation such as the Farm Bill that impact food banks and rates of hunger throughout California.

Recent Policy Successes (2025)
- Secured $80M one time for CalFood to support the purchase of California-grown and produced food by California food banks.
- Achieved $43.8M in investments for SUN Bucks (Summer EBT) implementation to allow California to provide federal food assistance to an estimated 6M children in summer 2025.
- Secured $90.7 million to continue the School Meals for All program, ensuring children have access to free meals at school.
- Secured $7.4 million to fund local diaper distributions for low-income families with infants and toddlers, for 11 food banks and community organizations.
- Maintained the implementation timeline to expand the California Food Assistance Program (CFAP) for older adults 55+ regardless of immigration status, by October 2027.
- Supported $123.6 million to make critical CalFresh investments against immediate harms from H.R. 1.
- Co-sponsored AB 79 (Arambula), to raise awareness of public benefit programs among college students, and AB 777 (C. Rodriguez), which improves CA’s ability to help people during disasters, which were both signed into law.
