California Association of Food Banks is a member of Californians for SSI (CA4SSI), a statewide coalition of over 200 organizations across the aging, disability rights, housing and homeless, anti-hunger, and anti-poverty sectors working to restore funds to SSI to pre-recession levels. NPR’s California Report sat down with one of the client advocates, Wilma Brown, our very own Andrew Cheyne, and Janny Castillo of St. Mary’s Center in Oakland to talk about the difficulties facing those living on SSI.
