Our Food Bank Network is Here to Help — Find Food and Resources
Funds will be directed toward the California Association of Food Banks’ Emergency Response Fund to support increased need across the agency’s 42-member food banks
OAKLAND, Calif.—November 18, 2025—The PG&E Corporation Foundation (PG&E Foundation) has donated $250,000 to the California Association of Food Banks’ (CAFB) Emergency Response Fund through its Better Together Giving Program. This funding will help alleviate the insurmountable pressure food banks are facing because of record-breaking demand — the highest seen since the pandemic — caused by the federal government shutdown and the SNAP (CalFresh) benefit delays.
CAFB’s Emergency Response Fund was established to help its 42-member food bank network meet the increased need and enable them to purchase food, secure essential supplies and hire additional staff to strengthen their efforts. This food bank network assists food-insecure community members directly and through a collective of more than 5,000 food pantries and community-based organizations in every corner of the state.
“We are deeply grateful to our partner, PG&E, for the extraordinary donation and its leadership towards ending hunger in California,” said Stacia Levenfeld, CEO of California Association of Food Banks. “Before the shutdown, food banks were serving six million people a month. Now more than ever, food banks need the support of their communities. We invite other companies to contribute to CAFB’s Emergency Response Fund, which will be distributed across the state.”
PG&E’s Better Together Giving Program is a charitable giving program with the mission of creating a safer, better California. The generous grant reflects its commitment to building safer, more resilient communities through investments in emergency preparedness, food insecurity, environmental stewardship and more.
“We understand the urgency for support as families in our service area — and nationwide — are struggling to put food on their tables. Local food banks are a critical safety net and often the first place people turn to for help in feeding their families, and many more are seeking this help today. At this critical moment, when the demand for assistance is so great, we are committed to supporting our communities however we can,” Carla Peterman, Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs, PG&E Corporation and Chair of The PG&E Corporation Foundation Board.
The PG&E Foundation’s funding for this charitable donation comes from PG&E shareholders, not PG&E customers.
