Shanti Prasad joined CAFB in 2020. She was previously on the policy team at Alameda County Community Food Bank where she led state legislative and budget advocacy and the grassroots Community Advocates Against Hunger group. In this coalition, she helped Californians on SSI become eligible for CalFresh. Shanti has eleven years’ experience working in food systems policy and organizing in California and New York.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley and a master’s in Food Systems from New York University. She was also a stage actor in New York City for six years.
Her favorite food? A tie between avocados and cheese.
