CalFresh & Federal Government Shutdown

October 24, 2025: CalFresh benefits will be delayed in November 2025. For additional information, please see the following Frequently Asked Questions from CDSS.

• If you need immediate food assistance, find resources here. 
• California WIC continues to serve and enroll families for now. You can stay up to date here. 

October 20, 2025: Unless action is taken federally to end the government shutdown by October 23, CalFresh benefits may be delayed in November 2025. 

October 1, 2025: The United States entered a full government shutdown. The shutdown will end once Congress passes a federal budget or a continuing resolution. There is no impact on October CalFresh benefits. 

March 15, 2025: President Trump signed a Continuing Resolution (H.R. 1968), to continue funding the government at current levels through September 30, 2025. Congress must pass a full budget (or another Continuing Resolution) to avoid a federal government shutdown on October 1.
